NAM Board Member Spotlight: Craig Beck

Posted By: Nick Koehler Board Member Spotlight,

Craig Beck serves as the Research Director at OpenSky Policy Institute, a Board Member at NAM, and is the Chair of NAM's public policy committee. When asked about his experience at OpenSky and his time on the NAM Board, Craig gave the following response:

"I serve as OpenSky Policy Institute’s research director, where our mission is to use research, strategic communications and coalition-building to advance evidence-based policies that improve economic opportunity for all Nebraskans. As research director, I lead the organization’s policy analysis and research through a team of dedicated analysts engaging with several policy areas, including tax and budget, education finance and the social safety net. Through these policy areas, OpenSky provides state legislators, the media and public with nonpartisan analysis, seeking to ensure that all Nebraskans have a shot at living the Good Life.

Nebraska is incredibly fortunate to have a dynamic and effective nonprofit community. I have seen a great deal of growth in the way our nonprofit organizations collaborate to maximize impact through coalition building and organizational excellence. I’m proud that NAM has been at the forefront of driving both of those efforts, helping nonprofit employees level up their skills and connect with one another to be catalysts for positive change. Service on NAM's board has been an incredibly rewarding opportunity and I'm grateful to the NAM staff for the work they do every day in assisting nonprofits

OpenSky Policy Institute is celebrating 15 years this year and I have had the opportunity to see a lot of change in the state, particularly in the Legislature. I think grounding public policy decisions in research and analysis promotes good governance and benefits all Nebraskans."
