NAM Board Member Spotlight: Anne Dishman

Posted By: Nick Koehler Board Member Spotlight,

Anne Dishman serves as the CEO of Kearney Family YMCA, as well as a Board Member for NAM. When asked about her experience both at the Kearney Family YMCA and her time on the NAM Board, Anne gave the following response:

"I serve as the CEO of the Kearney Family YMCA, where our mission centers on strengthening community through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. Specific to this month's topic, childcare is one of the most essential ways we live out that mission. For many families, access to safe, high‑quality care is the difference between stability and struggle and the YMCA is committed to being a reliable partner in that journey.

At the Kearney Family YMCA, I lead our mission to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all by creating a community where everyone belongs. My work centers on strengthening relationships and partnerships that expand access to healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. Ultimately, everything we do is about strengthening the foundation of our community — its people — so individuals and families can thrive.

As a newer board member, I am excited to help strengthen NAM with a focus on elevating the voices of organizations that serve families, youth, and communities in areas where access to resources can present very unique strengths, needs, opportunities, and barriers. I hope to represent rural Nebraska and as an advocate for strengthening nonprofit leadership pipelines.

NAM provides meaningful support to nonprofits across Nebraska by connecting leaders, strengthening collaboration, and offering practical resources that help organizations serve their communities well. I’ve especially appreciated NAM’s focus on developing new and emerging nonprofit leaders — because in a field where the work is complex and resources are limited, strong leadership development truly makes a difference in how we show up for our communities."
