Professional Bio

Christie Abdul-Greene is the Executive Director of Keep Omaha Beautiful. She started leading the organization in October of 2022. Originally from rural Nebraska, she has lived in Omaha for over 25 years. Christie holds a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a bachelor's degree in Business Psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan. This foundation offers a unique perspective for considering the wellbeing of both people and the environment, which she integrates into her daily work.
Christie is a certified Climate Ambassador through Eco-America and served on the planning committee for the City of Omaha’s Climate Action & Resilience Plan. In addition, Christie serves on MAPA’s Solid Waste and Natural Resources committees, and the UNMC College of Public Health’s Urban Heat Resilience working group.
Christie is passionate about advocacy and helping others realize the power they have to make positive impacts in our world. She is grateful to the many amazing collaborators, supporters, and friends who share this commitment and are working towards a healthy urban ecosystem for all.
Christie and her husband live on an acreage and enjoy spending time with their large family, two dogs, goats, chickens and working in their organic garden
