Organization Overview
WeeShire Mains is a nonprofit sensory farm in western Nebraska that blends agriculture, education, and community. Operating on nearly five acres, the organization combines urban farming practices, miniature livestock, and hands-on learning to create inclusive opportunities for families—including those with neurodiversity.
WeeShire’s programs extend beyond children and families to include seniors, individuals living with brain injury (TBI, stroke, dementia, etc.), and their caregivers. As a Nebraska Lifespan Respite provider, WeeShire also offers support for caregivers seeking restorative experiences and safe, engaging activities for their loved ones.
Through U-Pick blueberries, classroom visits, prosocial farm activities, job training, and intergenerational programs, WeeShire Mains fosters connection, skill-building, and resilience. The farm integrates sustainable practices such as vermicomposting, hugelkultur gardening, and pollinator support, modeling an environmentally responsible approach to agriculture.
