Organization Overview
Hero’s Encore is a nonprofit organization dedicated to guiding U.S. military veterans, transitioning service members, and first responders on a transformative journey from peer to performer, utilizing musical expression as a tool for healing, self-discovery, and a renewed sense of purpose.
The organization offers a free, comprehensive 9-month program that includes personalized music instruction, songwriting, vocal training, resilience workshops, and community engagement opportunities.
Participants are provided with brand-new musical equipment and a supportive environment to process their experiences, rebuild confidence, and rediscover their sense of purpose. The program culminates in a graduation showcase where participants perform and share their transformative journeys with the community.
Founded by Taylor Ullom, a disabled U.S. Air Force veteran; David J. Mike (Retired USAF); and James Hoy (Retired Army), Hero’s Encore is rooted in lived experience and a commitment to creating meaningful change. By collaborating with local and national organizations, the program ensures Heroes and their families receive the resources and support needed to thrive. Hero’s Encore fosters leadership, resilience, and transformation, amplifying voices and building stronger communities.
