Professional Bio

Kim Armstrong is a Social Impact Program Manager with Mutual of Omaha, where she has worked since 1997 and has been part of the Community & Foundation team since 2003. With a primary focus on corporate and foundation giving, Kim plays a key role in advancing Mutual of Omaha’s philanthropic efforts and supporting nonprofit partners whose work strengthens communities. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Mutual of Omaha Foundation in 2005 and continues to serve as a liaison between the Foundation and grant seekers, overseeing grantmaking processes, board materials, reporting, and community outreach initiatives.

Kim brings a deep understanding of philanthropy, nonprofit governance, and community impact to her work. A self-described “non traditional” college student, she earned her Bachelor of General Studies degree with a concentration in nonprofit administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is also a graduate of the Nonprofit Executive Institute and continues to serve on its leadership team. In addition, Kim serves on the boards of Threshold Continuum of Care for the Homeless and Mutual of Omaha’s Employee Financial Assistance Fund.

Growing up as a military brat and attending six different schools across Michigan, Illinois, Florida, and England shaped Kim’s adaptability and appreciation for change. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, traveling with her husband Mark, spending time with their adult daughters, and hanging out with her Yorkshire Terriers. She also (sometimes) enjoys cheering for her favorite teams—the Chicago Bears and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
