Professional Bio

Kimara Snipes serves as Executive Director of One Omaha, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods by investing in resident leadership. She oversees mini-grants, training, and on-the-ground partnerships that help neighbors design and deliver solutions - from small block projects to community events that build connection. She also serves as Vice President of the Omaha Public Schools Board of Education, advancing family-school partnerships and policies that support student success and strong neighborhood schools.

A champion of inclusive engagement, Kimara focuses on clear communication and practical tools that make participation easier. She partners with cultural connectors and interpreters so immigrant and refugee communities can access meetings, materials, and decision-making in ways that work for them. Her team emphasizes dignity-forward storytelling and “closing the loop,” reporting back on how resident feedback informs programs and policy.

Kimara’s work advances social cohesion, youth leadership, and resident power, with a special commitment to South Omaha. She believes strong neighborhoods are built by the people who live in them - and that small grants, consistent listening, and accessible pathways can spark lasting change.
