Demetrius Gatson

Demetrius Gatson, CPSWS, is a dedicated community leader and social entrepreneur. As the founder and executive director of QUEENS Butterfly House, she is committed to providing vital resources and support to women in the Omaha community, empowering them to overcome adversity and become productive, active members of society.
A native Omahan with 50 years of community ties, Demetrius draws upon her personal experiences and academic achievements to drive transformative change. She holds an Associate's degree in Human Services from Southeast Community College (2021) and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (2025).
Demetrius's passion for advocacy stems from her own experiences navigating the challenges of incarceration and reentry. Witnessing firsthand the gaps in support services, she dedicated her life to creating a safety net for women in need. Through QUEENS Butterfly House, Demetrius strives to break the cycle of incarceration, fostering a supportive community that uplifts and empowers its members.
Beyond her professional pursuits she is a proud graduate of Leadership Omaha class 46. Demetrius enjoys traveling, spending time with her loved ones, and cherishing moments with her loyal companion, Tesla.
