Professional Bio

Amy Bernstein Shivvers joined the Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation (JFOF) as Executive Director in July 2022, bringing with her more than three decades of experience in management, marketing, strategic partnerships, and content development. She and her husband, Eric, along with their rescue dog, Ace, relocated to Omaha from Chicago, Illinois.

In her first year at the JFO Foundation, Amy led the 40th anniversary campaign—Fabulous at 40!—which included the launch of The Foundation Story video, a new capability brochure, a year-long calendar of community engagement, and a philanthropy initiative focused on raising funds for Jewish camp scholarships. In her second year, Amy guided the Foundation through its first strategic planning process, partnering with Parlay Consulting to define strategic priorities for the next five years and create the organization’s internal Foundation Team Charter.

Under Amy’s leadership, the JFOF achieved several important milestones: IRS reclassification to accept IRA gifts, the launch of a highly successful endowment campaign, and an office remodel—all aligning with the Foundation’s mission to grow and sustain Jewish life in metro Omaha.

Before her move to Omaha, Amy served as Regional Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Western Governors University, a nonprofit online university. There, she led a nine-person team across nine Midwestern states, driving workforce development, employer partnerships, and student access. During her tenure, her team grew student enrollment by 18% year-over-year and launched 40 new partnerships, even amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Amy created and hosted WGU’s first virtual thought leadership series, Building a Future-Ready Workforce, and developed a skills gap workshop for HR leaders.

Previously, Amy was Managing Director of Executive Education and Events at Crain’s Chicago Business.
