AI isn’t replacing automation, but it is massively expanding the range of things that nonprofits can automate. This session explains what sets AI apart from other kinds of automation, building your confidence to assess potential use cases. We will also make sense of recent AI buzzwords, “reasoning models” and “agentic AI”, and explain where and why these technologies can be helpful. Lastly, we will carry these concepts into a discussion on how to use AI responsibly in alignment with nonprofit missions and values, addressing topics such as data privacy, social and environmental impact, and copyright.
Who Should Attend: Individuals who manage or provide financial services for nonprofit organizations.
Learning Objectives:
- Distinguish between AI and more traditional forms of automation.
- Study cases in which generative AI expanded the scope of an automation.
- Define AI buzzwords, “reasoning models” and “agentic AI”, and consider how nonprofits can apply them.
- Discuss best practices for data privacy, compliance, and ethics when assessing AI tools and use cases.
