Professional Bio
Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Tainesha Owens blends purpose with joy in everything she does. An artist, licensed social worker, and curator of joy, she treats her work as both a calling and a creative practice. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work degrees from The Ohio State University, dedicating her time to creating spaces of belonging, healing, and empowerment for students and the wider community.
Her leadership as President of the Black Graduate and Professional Student Caucus centered mental health and wellness as essential to collective success, work that earned her the 2022 National Association of Social Workers (OH) Student of the Year Award. Beyond campus, she channels her passion for well-being into The Bold Joy Movement, a platform dedicated to cultivating joy as a form of nourishment, wellness, and restoration in various communities.
Tainesha moves through every space, committed to pouring into the communities she joins, working alongside the people who make those spaces what they are. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she serves on the I Be Black Girl Blac Fund Council and works as a social worker with Veterans Affairs NWI. In each role, she centers collaboration, care, and the collective well-being of those she serves. For Tainesha, joy is not a fleeting moment but a deliberate practice of survival, one tool among many in the sacred work of sustaining ourselves in this world to transform lives and fortify communities as boldly as possible.
