Hitchcock Nature Center, 27792 Ski Hill Loop, Honey Creek, IA 51542, USA (map)
Join Golden Hills RC&D and the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board for an evening of native prairie seed collection at Hitchcock Nature Center! We will meet at the Loess Hills Lodge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23rd. After a brief training and discussion about prairie seed collection, we will head out to the prairie and collect native prairie seed. The seed will be used to restore and reconstruct Loess Hills prairies at Hitchcock.

The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Participants at this event are not required to purchase a daily entrance pass or have an annual membership to attend this program. We appreciate your support & thank you for volunteering your time during this important event.

Paper bags will be used in seed collection. Participants are invited to bring paper bags to contribute to the project, we will have some available for use as well. Work gloves are recommended. As the event will take place outdoors at Hitchcock Nature Center which rests on the rugged western edge of Iowa’s Loess Hills, a water bottle and hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes are also recommended.
