Many nonprofits are struggling to crack the code about how to communicate about social equity. People of different political ideologies and demographic groups often have very different ideas about issues such as race, gender, and orientation. As nonprofit leaders, we must create messaging about our mission and activities that have broad appeal to our diverse stakeholders of volunteers, funders, and the public. This interactive workshop brings current research about frames of reference of various groups within our community, provides practical guidance about threading the needle, and gives participants chances to practice creating messages about equity that are appealing to a wide swath of the public.

This workshop will cover the following:
• Strategies for fostering an honest and useful internal conversation about equity
• Strategies for creating external messages on equity that appeal to diverse audiences
• Conservative and liberal moral frames of reference
• Complexities of ideologically divergent perspectives about racial equity

This workshop is offered primarily for Nonprofit Executive Institute alumni and NAM members and is designed for Executive Directors, CEOs, and communications staff.
