Darger HQ connects Nebraska contemporary artists to the world by creating collaborative working opportunities between local artists and national and international artists with related practices, and develops partnerships that benefit artists by providing new means of support through combined private and non-profit sources. Darger HQ also educates, enriches and exposes the community to some of the most innovative contemporary art being produced today.
We strive to be the catalyst that makes Nebraska a global player in the contemporary visual arts.
How We Do It
We award artists with exhibition/project fellowships and stipends
Provide an uncensored environment for artists to present their work
Facilitate collaborative work with artists with a focus on peer-learning
Provide professional development for the artists and connect them with opportunities nationally and internationally
Proceeds from the sales of artwork go directly to the artists, while connecting new collectors to artists' work
We commission innovative projects that would otherwise be unrealized because of the existing conservative environment
Connect the community with the artists through artist talks, studio visits and public art projects
Through our diverse programming, we help build a more inclusive, global, positive and creative community.
About the Name
Henry Darger is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century. However, Darger worked as a custodian his entire life and no one ever saw his work during his lifetime. The mission of Darger HQ is to expose the world to important and innovative works of art from under- represented contemporary visual artists, and bring to the communities of Nebraska the artwork of new and emerging artists from around the world.
