It's one of the oldest community leadership programs in the nation and every year it produces effective, responsible community leaders. Leadership Omaha leads participants through a 10-month program of educational seminars, interaction with business and civic figures and exposure to different leadership styles. Ultimately, LO builds on the vital traits of a leader in a way that benefits both the participant and the community.
This issues-oriented program is designed to provide a deeper understanding of the community and key issues including human services, government and education. The monthly daylong sessions encourage an open dialogue among class members and more than 100 government officials, civic figures and business leaders who contribute as speakers.
Leadership Omaha participants are selected based on their demonstrated community involvement, career advancement and responses to a series of essay questions on the application. In addition to the monthly seminars, several optional programs are available to participants. Among them are a boardsmanship course and a police ride-along.
