More Information
The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The Red Cross has been dedicated to serving people in need since 1881.
Today, the supporters, volunteers and employees of the American Red Cross provide services in five critical areas: relief for people affected by disasters, support for members of the military and their families, collecting, transporting and ensuring all have access to lifesaving blood products, providing Health & safety education and training in Health & Safety Services, including aquatics, and international relief and development.
The Red Cross was brought to Omaha in 1913 after the Easter Sunday Tornado to assist with local relief efforts and recruiting medical personnel to care for the injured. Likeminded Nebraskans thereafter recognized the need for Red Cross services throughout the state. Since its official founding in 1917, the Red Cross in Nebraska has connected to people and communities, touching the lives of countless people through its extensive network of chapters and volunteers.

The American Red Cross Omaha Council Bluffs Metro Chapter provides services that are vital to the area, 365 days a year to communities across Burt, Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Harrison, Mills, Pottawattamie, Sarpy, Saunders, and Thurston counties.
