I have volunteered with the ACT-SO program at various periods since 1981; served as chairman of Omaha NAACP Communication and Media Committee and published the branch newsletter 'The Sentinel.' Also served as Branch secretary.
Volunteered with Harris County Texas Juvenile Court Volunteers as advocate for youth awaiting adjudication or had been sentenced.

ACT-SO Program, African American Cultural Technological Scientific Olympics was created in 1978 by syndicated columnist Vernon Jarrett. It is an academic and scientific olympics meant to support, acknowledge and reward students in grades 9-12 for their expertise and prowess in the arts and sciences. Omaha has participated nationally since 1980.
