Founded in 1984 by the Omaha Board of Education, the Omaha Schools Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (C3) organization, governed by a Board of Directors (all residents of the Omaha School District), and incorporated under Nebraska Law as a nonprofit corporation. At the most basic level, the Omaha Schools Foundation exists to raise funds for projects and programs which cannot be funded by tax dollars.
Kids Club, administered by the Omaha Schools Foundation, provides before and after school programs for children attending Omaha Public Elementary Schools. The mission of Kids Club is to provide high quality care for children in a safe nurturing environment. The Foundation also sponsors Early Childhood Education programs and serves as the agent for the funding of scholarships and classroom grants benefiting the students of the Omaha Public Schools.
