Dirty, Sexy Money: Paying the Right Taxes (UBIT, Sales, Use, etc.)

Are you paying the right taxes as a nonprofit? If you do raffles, silent auctions and other fundraising events, this is especially for you. Nonprofits may be exempt from income tax, but that doesn’t make them automatically exempt from the array of other taxes out there. Learn about your organization’s responsibilities related to UBIT, sales tax, property tax, and payroll tax.

Understanding your organization’s responsibilities related to taxes is important part of maintaining sound financial records and maintaining a good relationship with all of the government entities out there.  This session will focus on explaining the rules surrounding UBIT (unrelated business income tax), sales tax, property tax, and payroll tax.  You’ll leave with a solid understanding of whether your organization is liable for any of these taxes and how to track tax liabilities.
