Part 1: The Essentials (9 a.m.-1 p.m.) will cover the basics of setting up and entering transactions and provide an overview of software updates in the QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks® 2014 Editions, including:

  • Setting up your accounting process flow so that it is consistent and efficient
  • Setting up the correct chart of accounts
  • Entering your programs, annual budget, and outside payroll
  • Creating reports for your board and accountant
  • Tracking your members, donors, grants, pledges, and dues

Part 2: Beyond The Essentials (1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.)

  • Reconciling your bank accounts and clearing up reconciliation differences
  • Recording in-kind contributions, auto-recording membership dues, and memorizing repeating transactions
  • Advanced budgeting and allocating expenses by grant/program
  • Deferred revenue - what is it and how to track it in QuickBooks
  • Converting your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online

 

Participants should already have a strong working knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and concepts.
