Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM) invites you to a presentation and workshop for the Guidelines & Principles Program for Nonprofit Excellence in Nebraska. Then, as a bonus, stick around for a class on how to "Make the Ask". These classes are co-sponsored with the Grand Island Community Foundation.

The Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM) invites you to a presentation and workshop of the Guidelines & Principles Program for Nonprofit Excellence. This program provides training and state-specific tools for evaluating regulatory compliance, enhancing strategic planning, and refining operational evaluation. The presentation will discuss the features of GuidelinesandPrinciples.org, including:

  • Assessments – Learn how to create prioritized action plans for your organization using the Infrastructure Checklist & Practices Assessment
  • The Wiki – Learn how to increase your skills and understanding in 12 areas of nonprofit management with this companion to the assessments, which includes compiled and vetted research, resources and sample documents.
  • Best Practices Partnership – Learn how you can gain recognition for your organization’s commitment to best practices

11:00am ~ 11:30pm:

Bring your laptop to work on your organization’s assessments during the second hour and over lunch with NAM staff available to answer questions.  NAM staff and staff from the Grand Island Community Foundation will also be on hand to answer any other nonprofit question you may have.

“How to Prepare for and Make the Ask,” is a seminar to prepare you for successful donor solicitation calls. Learn the techniques for successful donor solicitation and how to get the response you’re seeking without fear of rejection.

This seminar can help you overcome your fears and feel more confident in soliciting potential donors. Executive directors, development staff, volunteers and board members are welcome.

Paul J. Strawhecker, MPA, ACFRE, President, Paul J. Strawhecker, Inc.

Paul has spent his entire career assisting nonprofit organizations in fundraising, marketing, planning and public relations activities.  Throughout his career, Paul Strawhecker has been responsible for programs generating more than $400 million, assisting government, social service, healthcare, education and religious organizations.

He started the planned giving program at Boys Town; served as Vice President of Development for a national nonprofit hospital and nursing home group with 75 facilities; and directed fundraising for a private university system with campuses in Michigan, Florida and Texas.

In 1996, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) accredited Paul as the 27th Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive in the nation.  He served as chair of the AFP International Foundation on Philanthropy, and has served on the AFP International Board of Directors.  He has also served as President of AFP chapters in Michigan, North Dakota and Nebraska. 

Paul has led the consulting firm, Paul J. Strawhecker, Inc., since its inception in 1995.  The firm has served more than 300 nonprofit organizations regionally, nationally and internationally.

 

Jodie Nolan, CFRE, Vice President for Gift Planning Services, Paul J. Strawhecker, Inc.

Jodie Nolan has more than 20 years of development experience associated primarily with child welfare organizations, higher education and healthcare institutions.  Previously, Jodie served in the positions of National Director of Major Gifts/Planned Giving for Boys Town; Vice President, Institutional Advancement for the College of St. Mary; and Director of Development at Child Saving Institute and the St. Joseph Health Care Foundation.

Jodie has experience in all areas of fundraising, including annual giving, planned giving, capital campaigns and major gifts. In her position at Paul J. Strawhecker, Inc., she counsels clients on how to work with individuals in making major charitable gifts, either outright or deferred, and has taught hundreds of nonprofit volunteers, staff and board members how to successfully make direct solicitation requests.
