ADDRESSING UNTRUE AND UGLY ONLINE :
A Community Conversation for Omaha Nonprofit Communication Teams
Thursday, October 26, 1-4 p.m.
Temple Israel 13111 Sterling Ridge Drive
This event is hosted by the The Tri-Faith Initiative in collaboration with the Anti-Defamation League of Omaha, Omaha Public Library, Omaha Community Foundation, Inclusive Communities and Nonprofit Association of the Midlands. Stuart Chittenden and Dan Gilbert will facilitate this community conversation.
Our shared experiences will create a baseline assessment of the challenges for nonprofit communicators when addressing untrue and ugly speech online.
This conversation is the first step in a collaboration to develop a curriculum and toolkit for nonprofit brands to avoid social media disasters, develop policy in tandem with strategy, and build trust in our community of online brand ambassadors.
The Tri-Faith Initiative is made up of three Abrahamic faith groups who have chosen to be in relationship together as neighbors on Common grounds, committed to practicing respect, acceptance and trust. Our three members are of the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faiths: Temple Israel, Countryside Community Church, and The American Muslim Institute.
Stuart Chittenden founded the conversation consultancy, Squishtalks, in the belief that conversation helps us to live better and work well. Squishtalks has designed and delivered conversation programs for corporate and nonprofit organizations, and for public and community purposes.
Dan Gilbert works locally and globally to design, execute, and evaluate innovative processes and activities. Over his 20-year career, Dan has worked with leaders and learners of all ages around the world to strengthen their innovation and design skills. While he has a particular passion for higher education, he has applied this approach to global companies, non-profit organizations as well as civic institutions.
